Berkshire, founded in 1906 and has grown to be the world's largest producer of full-fashioned hosiery in the era of silk stockings.  After World War II, and the introduction of nylon, Berkshire was one of the only brand distributed nationally.  It became known as the epitome of fine-quality hosiery.

In 1945, Cyrus Mayer founded the Mayer Hosiery Company. Early success was based on selling high-quality hosiery backed by service and integrity, to neighborhood stores in NY.

The Mayer family purchased Berkshire in 1977.  They continue the tradition of fine hosiery.  Manufacturing takes place - STILL - in Burlington, North Carolina.  MADE IN THE USA, baby!

We call Berkshire "old school" for sure!
